Using the side-bar options
Along the side bar, there are a few other tabs which can change the look function of your posting.

Categories allows you to assign categories to your posting, essentially tagging what the post is about.

Discussion allows you to set whether you want to allow comments made to your posting and/or if you want to allow pings, which will automatically send links to a particular page.

Post password allows you to set a password which means visitors coming to your site will not be able to view the post unless they know the password. You can give this word out to as many or as few people as you choose so they may see your posting.

Post slug is the URL for the post (example yourblogname.com/mypage). You can use any word/group of words for your post slug, as long as it’s not already being used.

Post status depicts whether your post is published, in a draft phase or a private post. Private posts are only visible to those people registered and logged on.

Post timestamp is the time set of your post. This can be set to the future so your post shows up at a designated time, kept in real time or set in the past so it is archived.
Towards the bottom of the page, you can find a few more customisable options.

Optional Excerpt allows for the user to add a few lines regarding the content of the post.
Trackbacks, very similar to pings, sends them to a specified address.
Once you have set all the criteria, you can then choose to publish your post, save or save and continue editing.
